FSSAI is an abbreviation used for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. FSSAI license is mandatory before starting any food business. This restriction is laid down in Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. This step is taken by government so as to ensure that food products undergo certain quality checks, thereby reducing the instances of adulteration, substandard products and improve accountability of manufacturers.All food business operators involved in the manufacturing, processing, delivering, storage distribution, and sale of food products must compulsorily need FSSAI Registration or License. FSSAI Registration is done through Us. (Eligibility) All food units engaged in Food Operating Business. Based on the turnover and scale of business, such business have to apply for either of the license (Registration, State or Central). The criteria specified in rules is as follows: 1. Annual Turnover below Rs. 12 Lakhs- FSSAI Registration. 2.Annual Turnover between Rs. 12 Lakhs to 20 Crores- FSSAI State License. 3.Annual Turnover above Rs. 20 Crores- FSSAI Central License.
FSSAI Registration a 14-digit registration or a license number must be printed on all the food packages.
